Go Tell Aunt Rhody, Dismiss Us with Thy Blessing

Have you ever noticed that "Lord, Dismiss Us with Thy Blessing" has the same melody line as "Go Tell Aunt Rhody?" (At least it does in the Mormon hymn book)

Every time we sing the former in church, I can't help but think of dead geese.

If you hadn't thought of that before, you're welcome in advance.

I actually did know that. I sing the words to Go Tell Aunt Rhody when we sing that song in sacrament.
Because I'm a bad arse.

Mormon hymns typically take the tunes from traditional folk songs. They're uncreative that way. Or resourceful. Which ever way you want to look at it.

Yes! Sometimes I leave church with "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" stuck in my head and don't know why. Then I remember we sang the hymn. My husband thinks "Scatter Sunshine" is a pub song, so he swings his imaginary mug in time with the hymn. Sigh.
